What’s your work-life philosophy?
Work hard, but family first. Always strive for a work-life balance.

What do you like best about working at UDT?
Surrounded by some of the smartest people in engineering and craft. Always learning and drive to continue to learn, especially as our industry changes and matures.

What are your three new favorite technology solutions?
I like everything, but my focus has always been in networking and security. I have been given the opportunity delve in the latest data center network technologies. I have been blessed with having the opportunities of working on enterprise networking, data center networking and security networking architectures.

How can clients better embrace technology to impact delivery services?
With changing times, the leveraging of cloud services seems to good play on decreasing project time and decreasing time to deployment. Also, with the flexibility of SDN for enterprise and data center networking, customers are able to deploy services much faster, safer and provide a better user and customer experience.

What do you think is the next big idea in technology?
In our industry, I think security is at the forefront. Security touches every element of the network, data center, enterprise, branch, mobile, IoT, etc. Providing protection and defense is key and the ability to proactively react to incidents. In general, the next big idea I think will probably focus on MEMS for IoT and nano technologies, hitting all areas of, enterprise, healthcare, government, security, etc.

What client technology needs keep you up at night?
Security and the ability to educate customers on leveraging outside resources, e.g. managed services. Because, one can’t know everything, but when collaborating we can combine our knowledge to solve problems faster.

What is the best professional advice you would give?
A wise leader quoted “be interested, not interesting”, listen first, question later. Also, don’t do it all yourself. Be humble, reach out for help if needed. Know that someone or a group is there to help.

People would be surprised if they knew you…
I like to cook, but not well. Even if it tastes bad, I put the effort in. Sometimes I get it right. I enjoy racquetball, when I have the chance to play. But, most I just love sitting with the kids and watching a movie, they are young, so far our favorite is “Moana.”
