NetApp and UDT Optimize MDCPS IT Infrastructure

For Miami-Dade County Public School teachers to efficiently run their classrooms, they need access to a myriad of applications, which do everything from grading to assigning homework. These applications are accessed by teachers, students, parents, and volunteers on a constant basis, so having the system go down was simply not an option.

As a partner with MDCPS for many years, UDT (UDT) presented the school district with a viable solution: NetApp. Working with a NetApp flash solution proved to be cost-effective for the district, and ensured that IT could make changes without impacting user experience. Through the implementation, all the users from the school district could access their data from anywhere using desktops, tablets, and laptops.

“There were major issues every time grade reporting came around, because 20,000 teachers would be hitting the same application at the same time, doing the same type of tasks with different records,” says Paul Smith, District Director of Technical Services and Data Security at Miami-Dade County Public Schools. “The minute we moved these databases to NetApp AFF, all of our I/O problems cleared up.”

UDT is dedicated to providing their education clients with the latest in technology to create connected student environments.
